Little announcement.

A few things will be changed on the Discord these coming days. First of all we're going to replace !code and !register with /code and /register. The ! commands will remain to work for now. The difference is that you can use /code anywhere and it'll drop your reward in #caterpie . Error messages will now be private, and /register is a private command so #caterpie won't be showing output here.

Some commands will follow like /help to explain Caterpie to people, and some other bits and bobs.

All of this will be reflected on the explanation on the RPG itself, too.

Little bit of advance warning!

On 08/08 (Or for people who use the wrong date format, 08/08), there will be a 24 hour 2x mystery puzzle multiplier - Starting from approximately midnight RPG time. For no particular reason.

Enjoy, and make the most of it!

Toxics are officially back in the game!

As plenty have already noticed, the Research Lab (Pokélab > Research lab) offers research papers again. It also comes with an option now to obtain previously obtained Toxics, at a cost.

From now on, they will be a monthly thing again, resetting on the first of every month, until we simply run out of Toxics.

Even after we run out of Toxics, the quests to obtain Essense will remain, because you'll always be able to buy previously released Toxics.

Happy Toxic hunting!

Another round of achievements has been fixed and progress has been handed out. I am too lazy to list all of the progress handed out, but it's these achievements:

- Routine Master (marking full calendar months)
- Rising star (be in the top 100)
- Top Tier Pokémon Trainer (be in the top 25)

"Top of the class" has also been fixed, and will be handed out this coming night when rankings recalculate.

-Nocky- (#12198) > +45
Luked3000 (#1025) > +28

Little announcement!

WSG has moved to a new server. The old one was so outdated that various components could no longer be updated, and thus the game ran on severely under performing software.

Should be notably faster at all times, but let's see how things go.

Our first update in ages that brings actual content has arrived! It's not just a big update, it's a mega update!

Mega evolution!

In the navigation you'll be able to find the "Mega Keepers". These keepers protect and forge the mega stones that you'll need to get your very own mega evolution. But.. they don't let go of these easily, you must meet a set of requirements and complete tasks in order for them to deem you worthy enough of obtaining a mega stone. These stones are your feat alone, and they are untradeable once obtained. If you mega evolve a Pokémon, that Pokémon too becomes untradeable until the process is reverted.

Right now, all gen 6 Mega evolutions (along with Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon) are available, a total of 50 of them. Rayquaza has no stone officially, so we made one for it. Each comes with a unique achievement, as well as a generic achievement for obtaining a set amount of stones. Which mega evolution will you pick first?

Keep in mind... for a Pokémon to mega evolve it must have an existing sprite. This is no issue for normal, shiny, neon, sparkly or toxic Pokémon. However, Event sprites may be missing given that these mega evolutions didn't exist when they were made. Perhaps they can be made, but it's not a given that they'll be created retroactively.

I'm aware Mega evolutions are very powerful, but WSG's battle engine is wonky anyway, so it doesn't matter. If we ever have proper challenging NPC battles in the future, we can simply disable the use of Megas there.

Some other stuff...

It is now possible to attach certain items to the player rather than Pokémon. There's a dedicated slot for amulets (such as Amulet Coin) and rods (for the Basic Fishing Rod), as well as two slots to hold other items. Most items have no effect in these slots, except for the Mega Keeper items. This means your starter is no longer forced to hold an Amulet Coin to gain double bits, or a rod to go fishing.

A x2 Mystery Puzzle is now active for 48 hours!

We're also doing a little experiment. Battling has changed in a very slight, yet super convenient way. Whenever the battle is done, the moves are hidden and the restart button shifts up. This allows players to set their moves up in such a way that clicking the restart button barely take any movement.

Of course, this also makes playing of the evil kind easier. So the experiment is to see how easy that'll be to prevent.

For now, happy clickin'

Just as a heads up, the next upcoming and first actual content update to WSG in years will be Mega Evolutions.

There's no set date yet for this to happen, but it is in the works and progressing smoothly.

The way Mega Evolutions will work is that a certain Mega Keeper will challenge you with a few tasks to prove your worth in owning the Mega Stone. These tasks take place in various parts of the game, such as battling, maps and mazes. I'd say they're not too easy, but not too hard either. Getting a Mega Stone is an achievement in itself. You can get as many as you want, of course.

Once you've obtained a stone, you can attach it to the Pokémon to mega evolve it. It will be mega evolved as long as the item remains attached. Yes, that makes them powerful in battle, but there's no strategy to the current battle engine either way.

Several other smaller updates will follow during this one, some improvements to the game, some QoL stuff, etc. but that'll follow once it is all ready.

Toxics are ready to go! A new set has been added, and it will activate on the 1st of August. Toxics apparently changed on the 18th of every month, however, we've moved away from that.

Along with the new set of Toxics, a new part within the Research Lab will open up to obtain older Toxics. These will have the same "II" symbol as the re-release of Neon promo, to distinguish them from the real thing.

I'd like to give a bit of a heads up.. and some a warning, perhaps?

WSG has been inactive for a while, or rather, I and many staff have. Due to that, of course there hasn't been anyone to properly enforce rules, to keep people in check. On top of that, what staff was around had no tools anymore because I had to shut down the entire admin panel due to a critical error years ago.

However, the most important tools have been restored, and thus we can view logs again.. pick at cheaters, bother them and eventually get rid of them.

We are going to ignore all suspicious activity that happened prior to this day, but we will once again start enforcing rules. If you're not doing anything suspicious, do not worry. But if you are, and trust me, we KNOW you are, it is best to drop it now before it's too late.

Have done some updates on mobile layout based on feedback and missing stuff.

- Logout button below header is now gone, is at the bottom of the nav instead
- Fixed some stuff relating to alola guardian
- Moved some nav items around (players higher, maps a bit higher)
- Clicking a roster Pokémon now has "Set as starter"
- Toolbar.. mobile doesn't have it so.. quests have a dedicated button on bottom right now, next to eggs and buffs. Blissey list, mystery puzzle and daily stats have been moved to mobile nav. Inbox / trades have been dropped for now.

Oh, and the Halloween skin is now available all year round for selection. Not a clue why that was seasonal.

Due to all the layout changes, it's also easy to add new themes now. So might be some coming up!

So.. I thought it was impossible to shift WSG's layout to be fit for mobile. It is all over the place. But.. it turns out it wasn't too difficult at all.

It took two days and plenty hours of testing and debugging, but WSG now has a mobile version that should mostly work. It's the very first version of it, things may be broken or work in a rather clunky way.

If you find something that is broken, simply report it. If something feels clunky now, report it too.

That's all! On to Toxics.
Avatar of Calairiel Calairiel
So.. decisions have been made, and I have decided I will try and frequently do updates for WSG again. It is fun to work on, after all. And being able to fix all the broken Toxic sprites has motivated me to get it all going again. I won't be on a schedule, but things will happen as they happen.

Speaking of Toxics; yes, all missing Toxic sprites have been fixed. They're no longer made by hand, meaning any personal touch (such as red eyes and whatnot) do not exist on these new sprites. Old existing sprites won't be overwritten.

What I'll focus on first is getting Toxics going again. I am expecting the first set to be running again in August. I was going to say July, but I can't promise I'll make it in time.

What's next is making the game.. more user friendly. This will involve looking at current features and improving them, mostly. New players get dumped into a game where nothing makes sense, and while that was the standard 15 years ago, it'd be nice for new players to have some guidance.

Also, this news now gets cross-posted to the site, so the news there no longer looks dead.

Most evolution data should be available now. If a Pokémon evolves in a funky way, it was simply given a level to evolve. New evolution items (and old, pretty sure some Alola stuff was missing) can be found here:

Ice Stone > Pokémart
Black Augurite > Attached to Scyther on maps (Lyra Forest / Safari Zone)
Peat Block > Attached to Teddiursa on maps (Weedle Town / Safari Zone)
Galarica Cuff > Attached to Slowpoke on Shiverin' Cave
Galarica Wreath > Attached to Slowpoke on Kosta Krabby Beach
Sweet Apple, Tart Apple, Cracked Pot > Codes through Caterpie

Edit: Before you evolve an existing Pokémon into a new evolution (ie. Scyther > Kleavor), do keep in mind its sprite may be missing, if it is a Toxic, for example.

Lo and behold, it has only been 10 years since the previous announcement.

However, generation 8 has just been added to the game. Properly, hopefully. I kind of winged it, so if there's any broken evolutions or such, feel free to poke.

Most of them have simply been spread out over the maps, I might release a list of what's where soon. They will also be added to the promo pool, so the next set of Neons should all be generation 8.

Unfortunately, the small sprites haven't been made in a two-frame animation for all of them, and thus we now use static small sprites. Might swap all small sprites to static to match.

That's all Folks!

Hi @everyone

Well yes, I just did an @everyone. In fact, it'll be the only time ever that I do so. I'll probably set up a role bot in the future so people can just pick a role and be notified of these announcements. I just figured I'd ruffle all of your feathers just this one time, to spark some ping rage and MAYBE some curiosity.

Anyway, that said, WSG just had its first update in about 25 years! But it's not quite a new feature, as I've just been working on revamping old features to be more in line with a game that isn't very active.

Given that new players (if we ever get any) will struggle to ever get stuff like old promos, the Promo Center has had an upgrade. You will now be able to buy old promos (both Neon and Sparkly), but they will come with a little icon stating they're a second edition. Perhaps some of you will dislike this because muh exclusives, but let's face it, stuff like fomo is what kills the modern age of gaming and life altogether.

On top of that, promos are rolling again and will automagically change every sunday. No more involvement of a human, and thus no chance it can be forgotten. There's currently 32 more potential promos (yes, Espurr is among those) coming up before we run out, so the addition of generation 8 will be upcoming soon too. The promo will be picked at complete random every Sunday.

Obtaining the promo will give you a promo point, and with 5 promo points you can buy an old Neon promo. Marking the current day on the calendar will get you a calendar point. 5 calendar points can be spent on a current month Sparkly (they're no longer handed out at the end of the month) while 10 calendar points will allow you to buy a Sparkly from previous months.

That's all! On to the next thing.. which is probably gen 8. Oh, and to remove that pesky guardian that constantly locks down Alola, but I've got other plans for that guardian. Oh right, and Toxics.. uhh.. to be continued. My time nowadays is far more limited but.. one step at a time!
